Stock Selection

What advice do you have on stock picking besides following a theme?

I first prefer liquid stocks, perhaps those trading at least $500 million in daily volume or having at least a $10 billion market cap. That gives you a better spread and less slippage. More importantly, the stocks that make multi-week or multi-month moves are often the more liquid ones because institutions buy them. Focusing on liquid stocks gives you a higher chance of finding a huge winner, perhaps a 500% move, while still allowing a decent position size. Small, illiquid stocks have more gap-down risk and are difficult to size up.
